I wrote an offhand post a few weeks ago about using humor to defuse power struggles with a toddler and people keep reblogging it, which is sometimes annoying because it reminds me Iām not always following my own advice⦠and sometimes helpful because it reminds me that I can start following my own advice again lol. today he would NOT get in his car seat (a behavior that drives me up the WALL) and I did all the ineffectual things (counting to five, threatening to take away his beloved mini gatorade bottle, trying to bribe him with treats, etc) before being like DEEP BREATH I must get silly. so I hid behind the car door and reemerged as a new character with a funny accent who kept trying and failing to buckle his puppy dog stuffed animal into the car seat. annoyingly this worked almost immediately to get him in the seat with no protest
