btw hamlet’s overthinking AND his impulsivity both come from a (perceived, at least) lack of control over his own narrative. the traits aren't a contradiction. hamlet has to be planning constantly to feel like he has even a little bit of possibility of control to keep functioning. and when he finally identifies a moment where he CAN control something, he has to take it immediately because those moments are far and few between and he's starved for them.
