Do writers have an equivalent to doodling for artists?

I mean sometimes I just write down bits of dialogue, and there’s drafts? But like I’m not sure if there’s a definite equivalent.

Not to mention the vibe I get is that artists can have different levels of completion to doodles?

(I dunno I know nothing about art XD)

Also whole other mildly related thing. I follow a bunch of artist on like Instagram and I’m like, I should start a writing instagram. Like writing doesn’t really work for that does it?
