Augie was only on this boat because it was a free holiday and he would’ve been excommunicated if he decided to skip his cousin’s wedding. Hanging out with his family wasn’t bad, it was just that weddings were pointless exercises in monogamy that inevitably ended in unhappiness. But he was going to smile and congratulate his cousin and find someone cute to flirt with away from his family’s prying eyes until the wedding started. His parents and older brother had found their way to the pool, but he was on one of the upper decks, sitting at the bar, his eyes searching the room. A fling on a cruise ship sounded perfect.
It didn’t take long for someone to catch his eye. Sitting on the other side of the bar was a guy who gave off an energy that was far more dignified than his own. Their gazes met and Augie took that as an opportunity to move over to him. He sat beside the man and smiled, “Wanna buy me a drink?”
