god there's just something so. autism. about grace and rocky's friendship. the idea of... freedom. from expectations, from preconceptions, from comparisons, from not measuring up against standards you have never understood. to be the best at something in someone's eyes, even if it's only because they don't know any better. to be someone's whole world. and to have someone WANT to know you. someone curious and openhearted. someone willing to do the work to meet your needs where you are, to learn how you tick, and to accommodate for it. the way they intertwine themselves in each other's lives, picking up turns of phrase and body language and learning from each other. to be brave for someone and barely even notice you're doing it. like there was never any other choice. to BE someone's choice. to be known. to be loved. to be changed.
