I figure most people never bothered to get the Farscape Roleplaying Game, and it's getting a little harder to find. In my obsession of course I acquired a copy and it is non-canon in some odd ways that I'm still trying to mine for interesting tidbits to add to my stories. But I was looking at the playable character races, and I thought they were kind of interesting, so I thought I'd copy the art for other folks to enjoy or at least look at.

This first set are the six races based on characters in the main cast. There are six more from non-main-cast species that I'll share in another post.

The interior art credit is Cris Dornaus, and I want to be clear that I am not criticizing their work. I'm not an artist and I know these projects are often on short timelines with minimal time to adjust to feedback. These are all closer to what I imagine for the species than the other set of races, probably because there were many examples of them or at least many episodes with the main example of them in different lighting and costuming.

So while I'm uncertain how I feel about some details, the Delvian especially, and the style is a little more caricature-like than my taste, I think they have done really well on the Hynerian and Nebari especially and I like the examples mostly being opposite gender to the cast member we see in the show. Due to the timing of when the game came out (between season 2 and 3) some of the races I was more interested in weren't represented at all, unfortunately.

Humans aren't in the game, but I think people would just start with the Sebacean stats (don't tell Aeryn!). There are other references to using the player character races as starting points and adjusting for other non- represented species. I think, from a gaming perspective, Kalish and whatever Noranti is are pretty interesting, and I would consider playing them If my GM let me.
