Blood of the gods (Zelda) vs soul of the hero (Link).
The distinction is important, I think. These are their designations during one of the narrations in Breath of the Wild, which most folks agree is near the tail end of the left fork of the 3-fork Legend of Zelda timeline, pictured in this link. Regardless where it falls, I think that particular choice of wording is not simply poetic. Zelda literally has the blood of Hylia, the earth-walking form of the three golden goddesses, Din, Farore, and Nayru. Link has the SOUL of the hero.
The word soul could mean spirit, as in he’s just the hero of this generation—or it could refer to reincarnation. OR, as it does in my canon, it refers to the fact that this Link (named such, FINALLY in breath of the wild) is the only Link there has ever been, or will ever be, that he is immortal, remade by the gods and the sages for whatever task and world into which he is thrust each time he is needed. I’ll take some time to detail what I mean by this, but hopefully in a way that’s more pleasant to read than just my inane babbling.
