West Peridot, otherwise known as 'The Wrong Side of the Tracks' was known throughout Reborn City to be full of Gangs, Violence, and heavy-polluting factories. It was a dangerous area of town, that was for sure.
Nadia had spent a majority of her life, traversing the dangerous streets. By now, she knew where to avoid, and knew the safest routes from her small apartment, to her school. Unlike most kids who grew up in West Peridot, Nadia could actually go to school. Her 'adoptive brother' paid her way, as well as paid for her uniform, as well as drove her too and from school. Today though, her brother never returned home from work, and she must take the dangerous walk alone through the streets...
She wished there was something she could do to help her 'brother', even if he wasn't really her brother - her real brother disappeared so long ago, she doesn't even remember what he looks like... any of the strangers she passed by on the streets could be him, for all she knew. Though, she had a feeling in her heart that she would know him the moment she saw him, if he was even still alive.
She clenched her bag tightly too her chest as she walked along the sidewalk. He did all the work, paid for everything, even the rent for the apartment she used to live in with her mother, before she passed away...
She sighed. Who was she kidding? While she wanted to help, she knew there was nothing she could do... there was no work in Peridot, and she couldn't ask her brother to pick her up from any of the other districts in Reborn City...
While she was lost in her own thoughts, she had walked straight into a pole! She felt her nose get squished between her face and the pole painfully, causing her to snap out of her thoughts.
"Ugh!" She blushed, "Stupid pole!"
She raised her bag to strike at it childishly, when something caught her eye...
A flyer, haphazardly stapled to the wooden telephone pole. She rubbed her nose and looked at the flyer. It was a flyer for the Reborn League... advertising 'the search for heroes!' Or something like that...
Apparently the Champion of the Reborn League was looking for Champions to either come to the Region and test their skills, or for civilians from Reborn City to come and get a Starter Pokemon, to try and rise up to be 'the Hero Reborn City Needs!'
...it sounded rather 'comic-book gimicky' to her though... she was about to turn away, when something else on the flyer caught her attention...
She turned back to it and looked at it closely. Prize Money to be won with every Badge, and every victory along the way!
If she could make money being a Trainer... her 'brother' wouldn't have to do all the work... he could take some time off, and relax a little bit... but, could she really make it as a Trainer, in 'the world's hardest region'?
Her phone beeped, snapping her attention away form the flyer. She looked down at it and saw the time, and nearly panicked.
"Ack! I'm going to be late!" She gasped. She quickly reached up, and tore the flyer down, before turning and breaking into a run down the street, and off in the direction of her school.
