1. Of the fics you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?
I think my favourite fic is one that I didn’t publish. it’s called ‘lightspeed’ and it’s a short story that I submitted for a writing competition. ‘lightspeed’ was a story about a fourteen-year-old boy who learned how to build the first hyperdrive, inspired by purrgil-like creatures that could travel through hyperspace. (it was loosely based on star wars)
I’d say it’s my favourite fic because 1. it’s related to swr, 2. it was a story I personally connected with and 3. it boosted my confidence as a writer more than anything. I didn’t think I would win anything in that competition, but it turns out I won 2nd place. that prize gave me so much assurance that I could write and could write well. ‘lightspeed’ brought me a lot of confidence that i needed at that time.
also, to sidetrack a little, as a christian, I couldn’t deny that this was a miracle. it’s hard to explain the full circumstances here, but ‘lightspeed’ did more than boost my confidence. it also cemented my faith.
