Hello lovelies! As promised, Volume One of Ivory and Bone is officially coming to an end this November, and to kick it off, we’ll be having a brand new event to wrap things up and help us to jump right into Volume Two! The official length of the event will be from October 29, 2017 to November 11, 2017 and full details will be released on the starting day!
CHAPTER 03: the witching hour
THE BASICS:
Muggle London possesses a queer sort of magic to it; the likes of which the wizarding world has never been able to replicate. The vivacity of life that brims and overflows through its buildings and pours onto the street never fails to dazzle both citizens and tourists alike. Year after year, century upon century. As Halloween has drawn near, the city of London has decided to host a party for this year’s festive haunt. Londoners and travelers alike are invited to attend this spooky spectacle, participate in the fun and games floating around the social event, and partake in the annual Halloween costume contest, to be announced at the stroke of midnight.
But while the Muggles, blissfully unaware of the torment and war that rages on around them, through the slips and cracks in their own reality’s very fabric and foundation, prepare for the party of the year, the wizarding world prepares for a very different sort of Halloween.
THE DEATH EATERS:
Halloween is one of Bellatrix Lestrange’s most infuriating times of year. She celebrates the holiday as a sacred remembrance day for the wizarding race alike, while remaining repulsed and enraged by the childish spectacle the Muggles make out of a day full of magic and lore of years past. And after all, what better day of the year to take something the Muggles cherish and turn it into a statement for the Dark Lord? As Lord Voldemort’s second-in-command, Bellatrix feels personally responsible for getting the message of the Dark Lord out to the far corners of Europe, where he may be revered and feared by the entire wizarding community.
Thus, the Death Eaters will be infiltrating the Muggle Halloween party as guests, disguised in the ridiculous costumes Muggles are so fond of. When the clock strokes midnight, the Death Eaters plan on unleashing themselves upon the party and making a statement that will reach every corner of Europe; they will make an example out of these Muggles, torturing and slaying them in the name of the Dark Lord. In Lord Voldemort’s new reign of power, there will be no time for free-thinking Muggles. They will bow to the wizarding world’s whim or they will all die. One. By. One.
THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX:
Unbeknownst to the Death Eaters, the Order might actually have the upper hand in this scenario. Through a stroke of pure luck, Lupin and Tonks learned of the Death Eaters’ plans through questioning a neutral contact shared between the Order and the Death Eaters. As such, those among the upper tier of the Order have unanimously agreed upon one thing: the Muggles, defenseless and clueless of their impending doom, must be protected at all costs. Scrabbling to find means to enter the party undetected, the Order have decided to infiltrate the party on their own terms, just as the Death Eaters have.
In order to attempt to remain as discreet as possible, the Order will arrive at the party in clusters via a Floo spell set up within the confines of the Burrow. Members of the Order attending the party will be in full costume appropriate for the event, the same as the Muggles, and will be responsible for protecting them from harm and, ultimately, stopping the Death Eaters before they reach the final bell at the stroke of midnight. While selected Order members will be protecting Muggles and investigating the party, Arthur Weasley, Molly Weasley, Kingsley Shacklebolt, and Andromeda Tonks will stand watch at the Burrow, letting people in and out of their home as they attempt to smuggle people to safety.
NEUTRAL PARTIES:
As the neutral characters have no particular ties to either party in this war (yet), their reasons for attending this party may vary. Perhaps they have heard supporters from the Order or Death Eaters will be in attendance and wish to show their support. Or perhaps the idea of a light-hearted party during such a dark time is sweet relief. Regardless of the reason, make sure your character is in attendance for this year’s Halloween party--it’s simply to die for!
THE TECHNICALITIES:
Ivory and Bone’s second group event is set to have an estimated two week timeline (from October 29th to November 11th). If this event timeline has to change for any reason, the admin team will alert all members promptly. During this time, the headmistresses ask that any starters or threads created within this timeline revolve strictly around the location and content of the event. We also ask that all members attempt to engage in at least one full length para thread for the event, and shorter threads / convos are, as always, welcome in addition.
Members are also encouraged to create a separate post detailing what their character’s costume for this event will be. Your creation can be made on platforms such as Photoshop, Polyvore, Pinterest, etc. Just make sure to link and post your creation on your character’s blog and tag it with “iabevent” for everyone else to see! Please keep in mind that the year in game is 1998, so any and all costume references must be pertinent to the time period (i.e. no “Katniss Everdeen” or Stranger Things characters floating around, as neither of those exist yet in this world). Last but not least, all starters for the event (as well as the info card) may be tagged with “iabstarter” and “iabevent”.

• Angelina Johnson (Department of Foreign Affairs and Sports) ➟ status: employee / role: International Quidditch Regulations Intern ➟ responsible for obtaining copies of records on foreign affairs to determine whether or not the Ministry has severed communications with the rest of the European Wizarding Union.
• Draco Malfoy (Department of Magical Games and Sports) ➟ status: employee / role: Cataloging Clerk for all Quidditch-related Activities ➟ responsible for working alongside mission partner, Viktor Krum, to attempt to glean which Ministry workers are moles for He Who Must Not Be Named and which are innocents who feel trapped by the corruption of the wizarding government.
• Fred Weasley (Department of Magical Transportation) ➟ status: employee / role: Subdivisional Portkey Office employee ➟ responsible for deciphering whether any of the Order of the Phoenix’s portkeys have become objects of interest to the Ministry of Magic as well as recording and cataloging a list of suspicious porkeys assumed to be utilized and trafficked by the Death Eaters.
• Ginny Weasley (Muggle-born Registration Commission) ➟ status: employee / role: Secretary to the Commissioner’s Office ➟ responsible for cataloging which Muggle-borns and Order Members are being tracked by the Ministry of Magic and then corrupting the existing files for Order members by changing their tracking locations and paperwork history.
• Hannah Abbott (Department of Magical Education) ➟ status: guest / role: inquiring about a job application submitted to Hogwarts months prior ➟ responsible for distracting the registration clerk with searching in the archives for a supposedly lost job application and resume while Hannah replaces their files concerning the current state of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with falsified documents.
• Harry Potter (Department of Mysteries) ➟ status: employee / role: Unspeakable ➟ responsible for working alongside mission partner, Ron Weasley, to follow a lead presented to them from a Ministry leak concerning a potential string of time turners the Death Eaters are supposedly in works of creating that will alter the laws of time and time travel.
• Hermione Granger (Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures) ➟ status: employee / role: Undersecretary to the Werewolf Registration Commission ➟ responsible for confiscating records of all known werewolves and werewolf networks / packs as well as following a lead that the Ministry is working to genetically modify wizards to create an army of werewolf soldiers for He Who Must Not Be Named’s army by splicing human DNA with that of a wolf’s.
• Luna Lovegood (Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures) ➟ status: guest / role: homeowner filing an official complaint ➟ responsible for filing an official complaint with the Pest Advisory Board and scoping out the department for any gossip or leads on any potential missing Ministry members or people who have been “acting strangely” ever since the Ministry’s renovations.
• Owen Cavendish (Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes) ➟ status: employee / role: Intern within the Obliviator Headquarters ➟ responsible for following a lead that details the Ministry is now prying information concerning the Order from neutrals and affiliates and then wiping their memory clean; Owen is expected to make a copy of the existing list of Obliviated witches and wizards and find out as much additional information concerning the illicit activities as he can.
• Ron Weasley (Department of Mysteries) ➟ status: employee / role: Unspeakable ➟ responsible for working alongside mission partner, Harry Potter, to follow a lead presented to them from a Ministry leak concerning a potential string of time turners the Death Eaters are supposedly in works of creating that will alter the laws of time and time travel.

• Tatiana Valentina (Department of International Magical Cooperation) ➟ status: guest / role: inquiring about instigating a chapter for U.K. immigrants ➟ responsible for distracting committee members while Saria Young obtains the necessary files and information needed for their leg of the mission.

THE NEUTRALS
• Hestia Carrow (Improper Use of Magic Office) ➟ status: guest / role: following up on a complaint filed ➟ a complaint was filed by an anonymous Death Eater’s tip regarding young Hestia Carrow being spotted in public with a wand not authorized to her name. The committee requires Hestia’s presence at the Ministry of Magic to fill out a form either pledging her innocence and guilt on the matter, followed by a brief interview with the Vice Director of the Wand Distribution division.
• Kadrea Graves (Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes) ➟ status: guest / role: appearing before the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee ➟ the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee pulled Kadrea’s name from a randomized list of witches and wizards to appear before their committee as one of nineteen citizens being interviewed. This interview will be the basis for determining whether or not Kadrea will appear before the council as a juror in a case of misconduct regarding a shabby cover-up job done by one of the committee’s agents concerning a group of Muggles spotting three witches on broomsticks flying over Surrey.
• Phillip Kingsbury (Ministry of Magic Research Committee) ➟ status: guest / role: accepting an invitation to present before the committee ➟ in his work as an alchemist, Phillip Kingsbury has been offered an official invitation to appear before the Ministry of Magic Research Committee to receive an award for his advancements in the field of alchemy over the years of his career. During this meeting, he will also be asked if he would like to take up a position as an alchemist researcher for their committee.
• Theodore Nott (Department of Magical Education) ➟ status: guest / role: seeking records from Hogwarts ➟ There is a rumor circulating that former Hogwarts alumni with connections to the Order of the Phoenix (whether personally or through extended relationships) are having their files pulled by He Who Must Not Be Named’s minions and kept tabs on; those wishing to preserve their privacy and history are flocking to the Department of Magical Education in hordes in an attempt to gain access to their files and ascertain how much of it has been leaked.
THE DEATH EATERS
• Alexander Barrett (Department of Mysteries) ➟ status: interrogation / role: checking on the efficiency of the Unspeakables ➟ responsible for interviewing (and performing Legilimens) on all Unspeakables present in the Department of Mysteries and taking a walk of the department in order to ensure maximum efficiency and loyalty to their duties.
• Cassius Selwyn (Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures) ➟ status: security / role: ensuring the vampires’ league are properly represented ➟ in He Who Must Not Be Named’s new era of power, the vampires are being promised more of a voice on the international council of creatures and beasts, with more power and control as wizards and witches share; Cassius’ goal for this spontaneous routine check is to ensure these goals have not fallen to the wayside of the department.
• Elvira Blanche (Department of Magical Law Enforcement) ➟ status: security / role: making a routine check on the Department of Security ➟ responsible for making sure the Department of Security, a division within the Department o Magical Law Enforcement, is properly securing all highly confidential files and paperwork pertaining to the Dark Lord’s plans and motives; anyone who does not comply with regulations shall have to face the wrath of Elvira’s rage.
• Evandrus Mulciber (Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes) ➟ status: interrogation / role: interrogating the Obliviators’ task force for efficiency ➟ responsible for making sure all current Obliviators understand the rules and regulations: report potential findings or informants to the Death Eaters, pull information concerning the Order of the Phoenix with witnesses present, and Obliviate according to protocol.
• Fenrir Greyback (Department of International Magical Cooperation) ➟ status: interrogation / role: questioning the authentication of all employees ➟ responsible for interrogating (potentially at length) all employees within the department who are responsible for alliances and propaganda distribution and weeding out any potential rats or moles from the Order of the Phoenix.
• Marcus Flint (Department of Magical Education) ➟ status: security / role: routine security and surveillance ➟ responsible for ensuring protocol is up to date within the department and pulling all necessary files regarding former alumni members with a sway within the Order of the Phoenix for the Four Horseman and the Dark Lord to utilize in their war campaign.
WARNING! INTRUDER ALERT, INTRUDER ALERT! SECURITY HAS BEEN BREACHED!
Darkness has befallen the Ministry of Magic. What was already a high risk scenario for the Order of the Phoenix has turned into something deadly and dangerous. Much to the chagrin of its members, the Death Eaters have managed to sniff out the disturbance within their corrupted, controlled government. Fenrir Greyback, upon patrol for the Death Eaters, discovered the first rat in their company: Colin Creevey, undercover for the Order of the Phoenix. And where the Creevey boy is, other Order members are sure to follow.
The cover has been blown. What remains of the Order must make a fast decision as the Death Eaters rip through the Ministry in search of them: they must decide to fight or flee.
The choice is yours: but will you make it out alive?
