Creased Sheets || Hamish & Alex
She couldn't breath, couldn't think. Her panting was so shallow it was like she couldn't take the air in, and as she grabbed tighter to the sheets, Alex struggled to figure out where she was. Wanting up in a frenzy like this was normal, it had been for years now, but that didn't make it any easier. The faces she saw from her past each night in her dreams didn't change. Instead Alex rolled over, reaching out for the person next to her.
She felt him, and jolted with shock at the realisation it was Hamish. How quick it was for her to forget that. Even in the last few months she had spent in Berlin, her and Luca shared the same bed for her sake. The nightmares had kept her from sleeping most nights, and despite everything they left unsaid he had still held her in those moments. That still seemed to be her happy place, even if it was far from that now. Alex Gently released her grip on Hamish, hoping not to wake him. Sleep was so rare for the two of them, it wouldn't be fair to deprive him of it.
Leaning over towards the bedside table, she took the dog tags on a chain from the side and draped them over her neck, letting the cool metal dangle against her chest. She was stronger than she knew, sleeping still one of the things she feared most. She was afraid of not waking up again, and however irrational that was she just couldn't shake it. Her arms found their home against her legs as she drew her knee's up to her chest, still breathing heavy to try and calm herself. She'd probably been thrashing around, sleeping next to her couldn't be easy. Maybe it would be best to leave now, stop this before it went too far.
Hamish rolled over next to her as she stood up, still in his T-Shirt and moved over to his desk to find a spare piece of paper to try and write a note on for him with an explanation. Instead, the only thing she could see was a small paper crane in between he piles of ashes in trays and extra text books. It was so delicate, so beautiful, she almost didn't want to ruin it by picking it up. She left it there, pulling a piece of paper out of the drawer and grabbing the nearest pen to start writing.
Thank you. It was easier next to you but my demons might be ones I need to learn to fight on my own.
Feeling his hands delicately falling over her shoulders was the only clue she had that he was awake, and she scratched it out in a hurry. "Sorry," Alex leaned into him, enjoying being this close to someone. "Did I wake you?"
UPDATED
sorry for bugging you, know I've mentioned a few of you today already but just thought I'd say I've updated Alex's blog, these are her current rp relationship tags (all multi!verse unless agreed with muns otherwise)
Long Haul Love (dontcallmetravis)
Drunken Bards (artificialfaith)
Sleepless Idiots (i-am-hamishwatsonholmes)
Sunshine Love (the-governments-daughter)
If you watch the sun set too often, it just becomes 6 PM. If you make the same mistake over and over, you’ll stop calling it a mistake.
