No Trespassing

Caerwyn had too much taken away from him now to really keep him in a good mood, much less placate someone who, by all accounts owed fealty to the crown. He wasn’t one to bleed his people dry like many nobles. In general the gap between peasant and noble was smaller in the Expanse than in other kingdoms.
He didn’t think he was asking anything unreasonable. Shelter until they were able to defeat the enemy surely to come on them within the next day or so.
“I am Prince Caerwyn, your liege lord if you haven’t been paying attention.” He introduced himself, his eyes narrowed in irritation. “I’m hardly asking anything unreasonable. So you might as well accept that we’re here until we can defeat the enemies.”
He snorted. “Regardless if we leave now or not, they’ll come up on you and you’ll be nothing more than a sitting duck for them to amuse themselves with. You might have a chance with us here.”
“How kind of you to consider my welfare, after leading them to my doorstep,” The man snapped. “I am no waterfowl up for the hunt. Should your enemies come calling on me, they will be dealt with.”
His eyes locked on Caerwyn as he snorted at him, his gaze simmering, his voice low.
“You are no lord of mine, boy. You have not yet asked permission or pardon, and are thus no more than vermin infesting my home. Hospitality does not extend to the uninvited. Tread carefully.”
“Step away from my books, put down my furniture, and pack your things, unless you are willing to plead sanctuary and repay me in full.”
