In 2009 I began making ambient, instrumental acoustic/electro music. The first track I made was in Music Tech class in Year 12. Instead of doing my work I sat and composed a simple track on Cubase.
The music took on the identity of Iamthebear. I was ambitious to try and move in this new musical direction. Unfortunately this was all taking place in the middle of my A-Levels, and I always found an excuse to explain why I hadn't been working on anything new.
This is that first track. I did no real mixing or mastering, and every single instrument was a VST. Despite this and the ridiculous simplicity of the track, I still regard it as one of the best pieces of music I've ever written and produced. It has no words, and no clever effects. Sometimes I play it just to realise I made it.
No matter what I write, even if it will be one million times better, I will always remember this track...
