Ian stopped by to get better acquainted with the Bellamy family. Given how both families have children the same age it seems like a good time to begin arranging play dates to see if anything comes of it.
At 11:18 p.m. on November 7, 2018, 28-year-old Ian David Long clad in black entered through the main entrance of Borderline Bar & Grill in Thousand Oaks, California armed with a .45-caliber Glock 21 handgun and immediately killed the young woman at the cash register. Smoke grenades stunned patrons, as he quickly expended a 30-round magazine into the crowd, then began firing from another of the same capacity.
At 11:26 p.m. Ventura County Sheriff’s Sgt. Ron Helus and a California Highway Patrol officer stormed the building, where Long was waiting in ambush. Helus was struck five times in the exchange of gunfire and was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. Officials later determined he was a casualty of friendly fire.
During the shooting, Long posted the following message to his Facebook and Instagram accounts: “I hope people call me insane... (laughing emojis).. wouldn't that just be a big ball of irony? Yeah.. I'm insane, but the only thing you people do after these shootings is 'hopes and prayers'.. or 'keep you in my thoughts'... every time... and wonder why these keep happening...”
At 11:39 p.m., Long retreated to the office and fired a final shot into his head.
Five untouched 30-round magazines were found near his body, leaving no more than 60 shots fired during the 21-minute attack.
Of the 13 people struck by gunfire, only one survived. One of the victims named Telemachus Orfanos, believed to have charged towards Long, was also stabbed in the neck with a folding knife.
A 27-year-old man who survived last year's deadly Las Vegas massacre was among those killed in the attack Wednesday at Borderline Bar & Gril
But never worry, these two are still forever cute!
“I’m just worried Ian. You should have heard him... it was so hateful. What if he finds out the truth?”
“I know you’re worried Ces, but they’re just kids. They say all kinds of stuff.”
Like most perfect things, however, life soon finds its way intruding upon them. With the discovery of Tenby, Cesarina has been tense and afraid. In Edirann she’s accepted as Cesarina Long, without hesitation. But those in Tenby... they knew her before. What if they tell?
Not that Ian would object. Every since the Goodies gave Cesarina their miracles life has been perfect - finally, the love of his life is happy with herself, they have three perfect children, and now he can focus on his studies. Perhaps it’s arrogant of him to think, but Ian knows with enough perseverance he’ll become the premiere medical expert in Edirann.
“Just gotta stay focused, Demelza. I’ll be a doctor and you’ll be a professional at using the potty, what do you say?”
Admittedly, I like pretty much all of the sims in Edirann, even the ones that drive me batty. But I’ve always been particularly attached to this lovely couple and I can’t wait to see how their sprog grow up! So, without further adieu, introducing the Long family.
Ian is the son of a van Aalsburg girl and a minor nobleman during the days of Ghalyvudd - their only son, as the rebellion broke out and both perished during the fighting. Technically, this makes him part of the gentry class, since his father’s title would have been stripped from him once Arndt was crowned.
It’s this technicality that Ian brazenly used to worm his way into Edirann society roughly ten years back, knowing that Cesarina needed a place to start fresh, where nobody knew her and she could be wholly herself.
And the best way to establish you belong is to act as though you do.
Arndt certainly seemed amused by Ian, enough to allow him to purchase land in the gentry section of town. Now that they’ve been there for several years and had children of their own Ian feels more comfortable branching out a bit, and hopes to chase after his next big dream.
Cesarina was not always herself, as you see her now. It caused her so much hurt and grief when she was young, she doesn’t know how she lived with it. But one day the Goodies came to her and offered her something special - two somethings, really. Turns out when a spellcaster is near death (a natural death, it cannot be caused by anything other than time) they are given the ability to grant a minor miracle. And they both wanted her to have theirs. Faith gave Cesarina the body she’d always imagined she’d had in her mind, and Herbert made it work properly. Without both the change would have only been aesthetic.
When it was over she felt like she took the first true breath she’d ever taken in her life.
But it was still hard, living in Tenby, with everyone knowing what the Goodies had done for her, even if no one was cruel or otherwise unkind about it. Just the fact that they knew, that they’d seen her before... she begged Ian to take her away. Anywhere.
They’ve had a good, quiet life in Edirann, with no one even vaguely suspecting that Cesarina was a Fiore let alone that she used to be very different. It was perfect. She had three children she adored, the one true love of her life... and then Detlef had to go and be discovered.
As much as Cesarina misses her sister, and the others at Tenby, she dreads seeing them again. More so because she knows that her parents are still alive and well in Edirann but she’s made no efforts to see them.
Gareth is the oldest of the Long children, a messy, grumpy little boy who has more energy than sense some days. He likes to cook with his mother in the kitchen, or watch her make candies in the back shed.
Lawrie is the middle child who definitely inherited his grandfather Benjamin Long’s nose, and he’s not exactly the most charming of children. He might as well not have a fuse his temper is so short and the rare times he’s in a good mood he’s usually trying to wheedle money or treats out of someone.
Youngest Demelza is a sweet, smiling little girl. A shockingly easy baby and toddler compared to her brothers. Her favorite word is puppy and she can usually be found following Gareth around the house, toddling on unsteady legs.
