INTRODUCTION TO VOID SCIENCE: a comprehensive guide by the Investigative Bureau of Interdimensional Phenomena
At the IBIP, we value transparency and knowledge as the building blocks for making the post-Shift world whole again. It is in that spirit that we have put together a comprehensive guide to Void science, in which are explained some of these novel phenomena, such as potential causes for the Shift and the nature of Void spots.

AND IT’S WRITTEN LIKE A hopefully slightly less pretentious ACADEMIC ARTICLE so if that’s not your jazz i’m sORRY. and maybe i spent an entire day writing it. but in my defense i have nothing better else to do and needed to solidify some worldbuilding anyway. also i kind of miss academic writing.
anyways i hope you nerds enjoy.

okay so did i spend WAYYY too much time on this? absolutely. did i tear my hair out trying to figure out HTML? abso-freakin-lutely. was making this page necessary? absolutely not.
did i have fun? am i proud of the result? hell yeah.
(psst! if you send me questions you would ask the IBIP, i’ll include them in the FAQ section! 😉)
↳ the in-between extra content - the IBIP career recruitment initiative
have you ever wanted to study the black holes that have been ripping apart the fabric of the universe for the last five years? or dreamed of riding around town on a motorcycle to zap those black holes shut? or yearned to be an unsuspecting puppet in a cover-up with ramifications beyond our dimension? then look no further–the IBIP has got just the job for you!
so i’m trying this little thing out where i write up the notes Marielle takes (refresher: she’s the IBIP research assistant running some of Baby’s tests), to give a little insight into her POV since she doesn’t get one in the actual story. some of these will be test observations, some will be analyses, some will be emails to her supervisors.
i don’t know how many of these i’ll end up making or if they’ll even be interesting? we’ll see kjfgkjgf
edit: it has come to my attention that people unfamiliar with EEG setup might not understand what exactly is going on so refer to this post for an explanation!
(warning: brief panic attack mention)
the in-between wip intro | marielle character intro | marielle’s notes
I am very honored to have been assigned the EEG portion in the study of Miss Arroyo’s case. Today’s first visit went well for the most part. There are, however, a couple of things that concern me.
First of all, her scores on the BDI, as well as her general mannerisms and behavior, are indicative of depression, as would be expected of someone in a difficult situation like hers. Would it be possible to provide her with some sort of mental health services?
Second of all, she seemed greatly distressed during the EEG setup, particularly during the gelling of the cap. She came very close to having a panic attack, and it took twice as long to get started. As a result, we were unable to get through all the tasks planned for today. Please advise on any alternative methods of gelling that might be less distressing for her.
Thirdly, there was an unusual amount of high frequency in the data. I tried exfoliating the skin under the ground electrode and made sure she did not have her cell phone in the Whisper Room, but the problem was still there. I think the ground might be defective. Are there any other ground electrodes I could use?
Attached is the run sheet for today’s visit.
Best regards.
