Clamshell modding part 1
A while ago, I received a Graphite Clamshell in excellent condition, except that the drive bezel was torn apart. I quickly figured out it was because the latch opening mechanism was broken, and so presumably, the owner had forcibly pulled it apart to get the CD and made an attempt at gluing things back.
Because the DVD drive didn’t work, I decided to replace it with one of the cheap chinese hard drive caddies for laptops that should theoretically fit in this optical bay slot, as Apple only fitted a metal sleeve around it for the Clamshell.
Turns out, I was right, and the Clamshell picked up the new hard drive without any problems.
Life in Allentown-Poison Ivy
Second day of steroids, I was not as hyper as yesterday. Had the day off from work and did not do too much save clean the house. Got a call from the kid's teacher today-I guess he kicked someone at school- said he: "What goes around comes around". Apparently, he was dishing out his own Karma! Lori and I both held our breath and cringed a little.
Later, Lori cut Alec's hair and shortly afterwards, Leland and I met him for boys night at the Outback. Alec could not beat Leland at Tic-Tac-Toe and had to cheat to accomplish his goal. Last time Leland and I were there, we found out that our regular waitress, Nina, got fired. We found out this week she is working at a restaurant called Roma. Perhaps we can check it out sometime. It was fun to have dinner with Alec, hopefully we can do it again.
I don't miss Facebook at all. In fact, so far, I find it rather refreshing. I broke out the old Clamshell tonight and I am currently posting from that, using a modified version of Firefox for the old G3 and Tiger- It's quite useful. I still will need to replace the screen with a mod on this computer to get better resolution if I am going to realistically use this as a blog machine.
