He'd been staring at... it's hard to say what, bright eyes distant over the hand covering the lower half of his face, thumb drumming absently against his jaw.
The very picture of the preoccupied detective lost in thought. Like you'd lifted right him out of the pages of a dime novel.
There's something more real underneath that, though, an exhaustion he'd maybe genuinely try to hide if he didn't suspect that would be somewhat useless to attempt with someone like her.
"Oh, ahh— No, no. Nevermind me, I drive myself to distraction out here all alone." He shakes his head and raises a hand to wave off that concern with a sheepish amiability. "Please, have a seat."
