huh. contrary to expectations, akira’s taking the news rather well. it makes goro feel sick. ‘ i promise i won’t get mad, ’ akira says, like emotion is what goro fears. he holds the gun steady against akira’s head, and his hands don’t shake at all. where akira would call it betrayal, goro calls it practice.
“ will you stop it -- stop smiling ! ” he might hate this the most : the smugness of akira’s expression even when he’s cornered, like everything’s still going according to his plan, even when goro’s certain of victory. even when the victory he’s certain of tastes cheap and bitter, and like it’s all akira’s fault.
“ i’ll kill you, ” the gun begins to tremble with the force goro’s gripping it with, and even though he doesn’t know who’s he’s trying to convince of his conviction anymore, he repeats like an echo of himself, because he feels an echo of himself, “ i’m going to kill you. ”
