Down here in Blackreach, even a whisper too loud could get you the wrong kind of attention. The blind, mutated mer of these dwemer dungeons had keen hearing; it was only the magic that allowed her to pass so unseen. Enchanted boots alongside the veil of the Mistress of the Nightingales made this easy. Almost.
She'd seen the other figure long before she managed to catch up with them. Couldn't yell at them to get their attention, of course, lest she attract a horde of falmer and chaurus... Wrought with the anxiety that they might have been here for the very same thing she was had her moving quicker, her shape little more than the red glow against pitch-black armor.
Lingering around the far left of a large open gate that led into a clearing, she waited for the stranger to pass the threshold of it. Once they did, she threw a pebble in their direction.
“Hey—” Voice was a sharp whisper, and she dared a few steps closer once she got their attention; her sword was sheathed. “—What in Oblivion are you doing here? You're not a falmer.”
" Think I'm just meant to do the 'Hero-thing' until I'm dead or is there something else I can do with my life? I'm tellin' you, it's just about the only thing I'm good for --- best to stick to what we know, right? At least I'm helping people. "

“ See, Kate. This is why I love you! At least you listen to my ideas before completely shutting them down — ” he's draped over her back like a cape, tempted to kiss her cheek. “ So we're going right? Right? Youwon'tbackoutlastminuteright? ”

“ what's with the walkman? aren't you from the future? do you even have Mayhem on there? ” he pays no mind to personal space, zipping in to stare at the old music player in his hands. " your headphones kinda suck too -- "

Even with three decades under the belt, Valvossa had never fully acclimatized to the Curse. She had learned to work around it, but it was impossible to keep it under total control; such was the nature of the Beast. She was miles from civilization by the time the full moon hung high in the sky and miles more when the sun had begun its approach in the east.
She woke sometime during dawn, eyes hazy, hair a tangled, wild mess. She could see her breath in the morning air. Confusion only lingered for a moment; old hat at this that she was, she knew what to expect. Naked in the brush, her skin slick with blood but curiously free of wounds.
Valvossa inhaled sharply, pushing her sweat-and-blood-slicked hair back from her face, cradling the incline of her skull. Her head throbbed, worse than any hangover.
“N'chow, my head...”

— “ Bad. World Ending Bad. ” he speaks as if every instance the group gets together isn't headed toward a world-ending event, as it so often seemed to do. “ But hey, even if someone dies, they just go off and bring them back anyway — so it's not that bad, I guess. ”

“ Finally found time for your big brother, huh? ” in a flash, his arm is hooked 'round the neck and half dragging Billy up the stairs and into the house. “ What have you even been doing lately? Maaaaaagic stuff? ”
