It’s not a good idea to put loose ice in an insulated bag because the ice will start to melt in about one to three hours. Even if the bag keeps the water from leaking, the moisture from the melting ice can get into your food. Ice packs are always better than just plain ice. You can use ice packs instead of ice cubes to keep your food cold and water from getting everywhere. They are better than loose ice or ice cubes in many ways.
