Interrogation +iceoveryourheart
iceoveryourheart Martin found himself blinking in the sudden unwelcome light, staring up at his captor. He’d struggled, and struggled hard- nobody just grabbed Martin Finnegan, no one. But this time, apparently someone had, and this person wanted some kind of deal that was obviously rigged against Martin.
"No palm trees? This vacation’s the worst," he said glibly. "Guess you gotta tell me what you wanna know before I can tell you if I know it, that’s generally how this kind of thing works."
Cage shot his captive a knowing smirk. Approaching the nearby workbench, he picked up a revolver and paused to show it to him. Then, he loaded in three bullets, making sure that Martin could see each one easily. After he finished, he slid the cylinder back into place and spun it,, following that, he pulled back the hammer and pointed it at Martin's kneecap.
"You're gonna give me Cohen. See, that fruity sumbitch stole from me, and I'm gonna get mine whether you like it or not. Now, I'm a fair man, Marty. You get a chance even if you duck me. If these three bullets don't do ya in, you walk regardless. Though you could skip the risk and just tell me where he is. You're not a gamblin' man, are you, Marty? I know I am."

Rapture was a city of sin, and that was how such men thrived. What they had done to end up here was of no consequence to her, neither was their fates. "What do you know about these 'splicers'?" She asked.

He grinned, raising his glass to the other man. "See th'interesting thing about't is..." he took a sip, watching carefully to see how Martin was holding up. "I've been workin' on somethin' new-- somethin' revolutionary" It hadn't been hard to get the other man to have a drink with him, easier still to slip the drug into his glass. "I'm sure Mr Cohen'll have a great interest in't," he went on smugly, "Provided ye live t'tell him about't.""Let me know what't feels like-- It should be taking effect any moment now.”

"Happy Valentine's Day!"
Julian cheers with a mile-wide grin stretched over his face, hands hidden behind his back. When he reveals them, a single cupcake sits cradled in his palm, hand-crafted with care just for the disciple. The younger man can hardly contain his giddiness as Martin raises a brow, either confused or skeptical of the gesture. The baker giggles in turn, extending his arm a little farther, insisting the man give it a try.
"Go on," he teases, "It's got your name on it."
He's not exaggerating, either--the name "Martin" graces the top of the pastry, delicately scripted in chocolate. It took six different tries, but no one needs to know.
If I send a mass text to all the people I like, I don't have to get them gifts, do I?
[Text:]
Absolutely! Personally, I’m planning on spending this Valentine’s Day locked up in my bomb shelter. Titanium walls, shelves lined with nonperishables. It’ll be a real party.

8. I’m not gonna outright call Kyle a ‘martyr’ - although he would be perfectly fine with a martyr’s fate - because he doesn’t bitch about work in a desire to get others to help. He bitches because he’s stressed, but that’s his own fault, since he has a hard time trusting anyone else to do the job right.
With that said? He’d be fine dying if it meant others could live; in fact, when he fantasizes about death, he imagines it having some altruistic purpose. At the lower points of his depressive episodes he weaves elaborate daydreams about dying to protect other people, which is exactly how he wants to go. His worst nightmare is meaningless death - the kind people forget about. Dying unmourned is something he considers likely, but very sad.
As for whether or not this makes him selfish, that’s sort of debatable. He wants other people to be better off when he dies, but he also desperately wants to be missed.
20. Let me be clear: Kyle’s mother was a sociopath. (Sorry for anyone uncomfortable with that word, but that’s what she was.) She unapologetically lied her ass off whenever it suited her. However, his father was a staunch Irish Catholic with a loud laugh and a gigantic heart, who meant it when he said “honesty is the best policy”. This resulted in a confusing set of mixed messages: always be the best, and always tell the truth. Unfortunately, this resulted in a bad habit of lying by omission; it’s not lying if you just keep it to yourself, right? Problem solved.
Kyle is the master of secrets, from “I’m suffering through a brutal hangover and trying desperately to function as normal” to “I have absolutely wondered what you look like naked”, and the coping mechanism for each is the same: denial. Can anyone really prove what he cheerfully asserts isn’t true? Of course not.
At some point it became outright lying, and Kyle does feel sort of guilty about that But he’s sure that if his father had been saddled with the monsters which plague him…well, he’d have lied, too. Who wouldn’t?

"You ever heard of a feller by the name of Elvis Presley? No? ‘Course not, yer nice an’ cozy under that rock a’ yers ain’t ya? Well, that man so happens tuh’ be the goddamn king a’ rock n’ roll, straight outta my Tennessee. Yeah, I know—you ain’t never heard a’ that either. Well, do yerself a favor an’ feast yer ears on this. Turn those speakers up, too. That’s the first rule a’ rock n’ roll, sugar—play it loud an’ sing it proud.”
11: a song you never get tired of
"Ain’t possible tuh’ get tired a’ Lady Day. ‘Sugar' s'up there on mah list a' favorites. So's 'Fine and Mellow’. Anyone with workin ‘ears an’ a tickin’ heart outta know why. Lonnie Johnson’s got a great number, too, with this feller Eddie Lang. S’called ‘Hot Fingers’. It’s one a’ mah favorites tuh’ play, and it never wears out. Least, it hasn’t yet.”
