Don’t think I’ll be doing #inktober, but I *have* been building DnD characters as a writing exercise recently. This is my Earth Genasi Rune Knight. He spent his whole life protecting a mountain (that he thought was his mother). On the day the mountain died, it revealed to him that he, and dozens of generations before him, were a prize won from his dao (genie) father centuries ago. Dan Heng closed his eyes and just asked his long deceased Aeon, Long, WHY HIM. He knew that THEY would not answer him, for THEY were deceased, had died millions upon millions of years before he was born. He'd declined to spar with Yanqing after the young retainer had finally come to see that he was on their side and not a criminal despite what the books and records had said before everything about his imprisonment and banishment had been revoked.

And now he was dealing with his "little sister" wanting the same thing. Truly, she was a chip off the old block when it came to her master Yanqing.
