Unfortunately, I don’t use Momentum, but here are some of the Chrome extensions I’ve been fond of recently.
From top-left, to bottom-right:
Panda: a new tab extension for designers and everyone interested in design. You can customize your feeds and get inspiration from dribbble.
Muzli: a new tab extension that’s aimed towards the same design crowd. They offer a greater variety of feeds to choose from.
iChrome: Personally, I really like this extension. There are a bunch of cool widgets that are super helpful like the Google calendar widget and the iframe widget, which allows you to insert a particular website or widget into the page. I chose to try out Tumblr. ;)
Overall, when it comes to productivity tools like ‘new tab’ apps, I prefer function over form. I love the minimalist look of momentum, but ultimately end up using apps like the ones above to manage my academic life. It all just comes down to personal taste - use something that works for you!
