Hi guys! I just came back from Key Club's International Convention, and it was so much fun! I got new pins for my backpack c:
On the first day (July 2nd), there was a meet and greet, but I had SAT classes so I couldn't make it to registration but I got in anyways AHA.
On the second day (July 3rd), there was Opening Session which was alright. Next was Caucusing, which I didn't go to sadly. Several hours after, there was a "Beach party dance." It wasn't as great as I thought it would been. There was a LOT of grinding. #SociallyAwkwardTurtle
On the third day (July 4th),the first thing we did was go to another General Session which was to meet the candidates and to listen to Matt Mattson talk about opportunities. That's where I met a new friend. After that, I went to get something to eat and then proceed to the workshop of my choice with my new friend, however, my choice was full. So we went to his which happened to be full as well. Because we had no other preferences, we just hung out in the lobby. Lunch time! For lunch, we had a luncheon with a guest speaker, Louise Ashby. Her story IS AMAZING and very inspirational. After lunch, my roommates and I went to the service fair and we got some Eliminate and US Army gear. Recognition Session came after, but it wasn't as boring as the other sessions. It had talent acts mixed in between. Dinner was horrible. We (the people from my school + Austin) went to Captain Kidd's Buffet. A $14 buffet meal + drink. The food selection was limited. There was no space at all. Yelp had a 1.5/5. Ugh. After a regrettable dinner, we went to Didneylan to watch fireworks!! YAY DIDNEY.
On the fourth and last day, everyone had to go to 4 workshops. After all of the workshops there was free time until Closing Session. Closing Session was heartbreaking because I won't be able to go to the next ICON. After a bowl of noodles there was one last dance and that was much better than the beach party. It was "Dance 2 Eliminate." By the end of the dance, we raised over $900 for Project Eliminate. Annnnnnnd there was this cute guy and yeah. Packed up and went to sleep.
Today I arrived home and I wrote this. Thank you Key Club for giving me this opportunity to go to such an amazing event.
