Aluminaire House arrives to Palm Springs. The prefabricated aluminum and steel home three-story house was designed by architect Albert Frey and A. Lawrence Kocher, the managing editor of Architectural Record. At the time Frey was a 28-year-old Swiss architect who had recently emigrated to America after working in Paris for the great architect Le Corbusier. Frey went on to become a modernist master later living and working in Palm Springs until his death. Assembled in just 10 days in 1932 for an exhibition on architecture at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, in an effort to preserve the Aluminaire House, it was dismantled and shipped to Palm Springs where it will be reassembled and opened to the public to tour. #Modernism #ModernismWeek #ModernistMaster #AluminaireHouse #AlbertFrey #ModernArchitecture #Architecture #IconicHome
