Weather App: Screen Icon

As you’ll have noticed on the screens - the screen icons. I felt the first one worked best for a ‘hub’ section. The symptom tracker felt like a target, or some sort of progress icon. The sun for the forecast screen is self-explanatory; the threat tracker has a warning sign and the profile one consists of a person icon. Having visual things look as universally recognisable is critical for having an effective design.

Weather App: Weather Icons

These are the basic forecast icons I created to be used for certain pages of the weather app. I wanted to keep them as simplistic as possible without doing anything abstract or unoriginal with them, clarity is essential with visual communication on the likes of apps so having a universally understandable symbol is critical for easy understanding. The next stage will of course be to implement colour, but I will focus on this when deciding the colour scheme I want to use for the app. I’m not overly satisfied with the use of the cloudy icon (bottom left), I included 3 clouds that way as it was to maintain the dimensions of size and keep it consistent throughout all the icons, maybe I can alter this to make it better. I will probably be working on some other icons / illustrations that could be relevant to the information display within the app.
