i found an ambiguity in english that i haven't seen anyone else talk about before:

"georg eats over 10,000 spiders each day" factoid not as rigorous as people think. scientists like this one tried to calculate how many spiders he would really need to eat to skew average up to 3. turns out it actualy almost 60 milion.

however, this assumes we are measuring entire population of earth. i did the math mysef & turns out the 10,000 figure wuold still be true if we only measured around 1,2 milion people in our sample size.

so my brain started wondering if the numbers could be played with even further, & decided to make tool for it:

i have built a spiders georg calculator. you can input your own numbers there and it will tell you result in green. can be used to get answers about any outliers similar to georg. i hope the public finds it usfeul

one great thing about Citation Needed is how it's entertaining even if you don't understand half the references they're making. Tom describes something funny from the article he's reading, and Gary responds "that's like when Dave Wendleston monologued about crusty beans in Brecklemore while wearing a flatcher on his head!" and Chris adds "if John Stroderberg was there I imagine it would've caused a lot more snaughter" and then Matt points out "well, he wouldn't have been able to hold his prensies, would he? he'd need like a Duke Graham-sized cronket for that" and you have no idea what they all have been laughing about for the entire past minute but their sheer chaotic energy keeps your amusement unspoiled
