Kansas Travels... Rock City

Just a couple mile past Minneapolis, Kansas you will find Rock City.  It is a bit strange to see all those rock formations in the middle of a field.  Even though they are just big rock formations, you find yourself spending quite a long time looking at them.  Also I had to go and look and each individual one.  They are all similar, but each one has its own distinct character.  The price is 3 dollars, but half of them are located before the gift shop so you can park your car and enjoy them without having to pay.  Also take a lunch and half a picnic!  There are plenty of tables to sit and take in all the scenery!

Kansas Travels... Marquette, Kansas

It's been awhile, but I found myself back out on the Kansas highways exploring places that I haven't been to in the state.  I always find myself in Lindsborg, but for the first time when I reached the town I decided to take state highway 4 west.  The first town I came to was Marquette, Kansas.  I noticed a sign that said "Marquette Kansas - Home of the Kansas Motorcycle Museum".   Well I had to stop to see what this town was about.  The first thing I noticed was a wonderful city park that had a stone fence and stone entrance.  I parked my car to get out and walk around.  Since it was the home of the Kansas Motorcycle Museum I noticed quit a few signs that said to watch out for motorcycles on the road.  I didn't think much of it until after 10 minutes of walking around I realized that I had to watch out for at least a dozen motorcycles on the streets while I was trying to cross them.  The museum is definitely a pilgrimage for Kansas motorcyclists.

Snow Days...

Old man winter has definitely been showing up this winter. Seems like it has been snowing a lot more than last year. I don’t too much mind the snow. It doesn’t keep me inside like some people. If anything I will go out because I know there won’t be as many people out as usual. With one week left in January I am counting down the days to warmer weather. The only problem… some of the biggest snows have been in Mach and April the past couple years. So even though I know there is still a couple months (or more) or cold and possible snow, I am hoping warmer weather comes sooner than later.

Addicted...

I could eat candy for breakfast, lunch and dinner. People laugh when I tell them I am a chocolate and candy addict, but it is true in so many ways. I love the way it tastes. The little rush you get when the sugar gets into your blood stream. Nothing better. I was able to quit eating candy for awhile. About 4 months to be exact. I had to do it cold turkey. There is no weening off or having a cheat day. I am all or nothing. The older I get the less I can eat and the less I want to eat. But… it still tastes so good. Getting my mind geared up to get off candy and sweets again. You know what they say… summer bodies are made in the winter.
