kage’s words sting and it’s obvious that he hit a nerve ,  the way his eyes well with tears and his hands shake .  he’s right :  NO ONE GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOU .  why would they ?  his whole life he’s been little more than a burden to others ,  a waste of space .  but as long as he can find a way to be useful to others ,  to be worth something in their eyes  (  even if it’s fake ,  a blatant lie .  )  deku doesn’t mind .  that’s what he tells himself .  if he can get even a crumb of appraisal ,  he’d do almost anything . 

      ‘  you don’t have to care  ---  ’   there’s a small whine to his voice ,  he’ll fool himself ,  regardless .   ‘  but i can help you . .  i can be useful ,  i - i promise !   LOOK -  ’   in his hands he holds a notebook :   ONE OF MANY ,  nudged into kage’s side as he silently pleads for him to take a look .  had it been anyone else ,  deku wouldn’t have let anyone near it ,  yet he latches himself onto this boys side so desperately that it doesn’t even matter .

( now was her chance. ) sliding into the room, the orange-haired girl made her way across the room and took a seat in the chair across from him.
