so i keep finding myself in situations where i want to tell people ida and anayas backstory but just dont have the energy so heres a handy dandy post i can just link people to in the future
ida is a mute tiefling who refuses to tell you where she comes from, why shes missing a finger and half an ear, or why she has a magical magpie named anaya interpreting her csl (common sign language). but im not ida, so i can tell you whatever.
basically, ida was raised in a druidic circle deep in the woods. the circle had a few commandments that were above all others- namely, things to do with the fae around them. never step into a fairy circle, ida was told. theyre dangerous creatures.
one day, ida went exploring. she stumbled upon a clearing with a circle of non-native lavender, and, almost in a trance, wandered in. and there, she met mielikki and anaya. anaya was a dryad created by the forest goddess mielikki as her right hand man, but she was new. when mielikki started to rip ida apart, destroying her mind and body piece by piece, anaya was terrified. she tried to stop mielikki, but she was cursed to take the form of a magpie for her betrayal.
when they woke up, idas body was broken, but anaya told her they had to run as far from the forest as they could. they learned csl, went from town to town working odd jobs, and finally ended up chronicling adventurers exploits.
and thats where im going to end this story, because, you know. spoilers.
(a note: ida and anaya are somewhat in love, but refuse to tell each other. if the telling went wrong, after all, ida could be without her voice, or anaya could be without her ticket to the humanoid world. i may or may not have a way to resolve this. ;) )
