Faculty Inquiry Group Met with Great Interest
Building on the success of the launch of the Faculty Inquiry Group (FIG) in the fall 2012 semester, the Institute for Distance and Distributed Learning (IDDL) is excited to share the formation of the spring 2013 cohort.
A FIG can be defined as a professional development program in which a small group of faculty members meet in person or online throughout the academic year or a semester to work together on a specific question, issue, or concern in their teaching and/or their students
This spring, larger group meetings will be supplemented with smaller groups working together to research authentic assessments for online course. Potential research topics include:
Assessing Student Motivation
Participation/Interaction/Collaboration Assessment
Scaling the Grading Expectations for Authentic Assessment
Gaming/Virtual Worlds/Simulations Assessing Student Motivation
Continuing to Evaluate Content Transfer After the Course is Finished
