OKAY, so time for a little update since I've gotten a few of these asks about the updates now, and I keep putting off answering due to forgetfulness and/or guilt and/or thinking I've got the mojo to finish the next chapter only to rewrite the scene multiple times and never reach the point of it being postable.

TL;DR at the bottom:

The chapter is halfway done. It's been half-way done several times now, but I have certain speed bumps that are directing my focus sporadically on and off of IDE towards "greener pastures".

Fortunately, the political and economic climate is (as terrible as it is) a source of depressing inspiration I can inject into the fic.

Unfortunately, the political and economic climate directly affects me, my sibling, and my mother (I am Latino & bottom-of-the-barrel lower class), so I have a not-unique-at-all set of concerns regarding "which happens first, does my mom get deported? Do I get deported? Or do we get priced tf out of America and head to Mexico?" That kind of stuff.

I have urges to write about everything and urges to look away from it all, but I also think it's really important to keep writing the experiences of people in the states right now since it's not just me stressing out between "we are so fucking fucked" and "we can hold out until it all blows over". Internationals, I know y'all have it hard too thanks to the decomposing orange freak in charge of the White House right now, I'm so sorry.

Still, I think continuing to write it will also offer that safe space to sort out misery since it's definitely a place I can sort my feelings out. Like the pandemic start when numerous fanfics were flooding sites with stories relevant, related, or mirroring the lockdown mandates.

Anyways, that's all. I'm doing my best. Hope everyone in and outside the states are doing alright too. Again, sorry for the delays on the fic. 🙏

TL;DR - I don't want to make promises that I'll update soon, but I will be updating eventually.

What a coincidence, I don’t usually write reader inserts! (But I read the crap out of them haha) I’m really glad you like it so much though! I will say, I actually prefer using OCs for my fics though.

Even the protag in this fic started out as an Oc, she has a name and a full design. The sad truth is that OC fics don’t get picked up as much as xReader fics do bc of the stigma against OCs, so I’m kind of forced to write xReader if I want people to give it a chance.

Of all the stories I’ve written, the only two that have drawn people in on Ao3 are my two xReader fics- and they’re the the only xReader fics I’ve ever written in general lol

Ik reader is a little introverted but imagine if she and cyno SOMEHOW actually get a conversation going at some point in all this chaos, modern day humour bro😭 Give that man an upgrade with his jokes, I genuinely want y/n making friends here

They definitely will open up to each other! It will just take Tighnari mediating to break the ice between them, I’d say. Once they both realize they have the same urges to embarrass or tease Tighnari, they’ll have no choice but to be friends xD

It won’t just be him though, sumeru friends are abound in the story

I’m baaack! Yes, I’m doing okay, we’re trying to brave the storm for the most part. Thankfully I have a lot of great friends looking out for trouble 🥹

As for the chapter count… I honestly don’t even have a ballpark guess, but I’d say maybe 50??? With a big asterisk, bc I mostly measure the story by events as opposed to a chapter count 😅
