Someone explain what is happening in Identity V because I’m CONFUSED THE STORY GAVE US NOTHING

I understand that the games we play are possible outcomes of the ACTUAL games that the survivors played in the canon story but WHY

I know that Alice is the Little Girl but what does that even mean?? And her and Orpheus are childhood friends right? And they got separated after some fire?? But also BOTH of their parents owned the manor at some point??? WHAT TF

NOT TO MENTION THERES LIKE 2 DIFFERENT ORPHEUS’???? THE ONE IN THE STORY AND THE ONE IN THOSE FILES WHO WENT INSANE????

AND SOME OF THE SURVIVORS TURNED INTO HUNTERS???? THE WEEPING CLOWN > JOKER NORMAN (prospector) > FOOLS GOLD LIKE WHAT IS GOING ON???????

I wonder if much of the new Lore for character relations is a mis-translation since a lot of it doesn't quite add up to what's been established, i.e. Frederick, Weepy, and Professor's ages.

okay so I just played the new story and could someone explain to me why both Orpheus and Alice smelled those weird bottles, after seeing the effects on the rat??? Like- you just saw a rat drink it and act weird and you decide that the best thing to do is smell the liquid???
