A FAMILY AFFAIR - a film by Tom Fassaert
On his 30th birthday, Tom Fassaert receives a mysterious invitation from his 95-year old grandmother Marianne. At that time, the only thing he knows about her are the myths and predominantly negative stories his father told him. She was a famous model in the 1950s, a real diva. As a mom she put her two sons in a children's home and migrated to South Africa out of the blue, far away from her family.
Fassaert decides to accept her invitation, but not without bringing his camera along. Upon arrival, grandma turns out to still be a femme fatale, whose obsession now turns towards her grandson. While Tom tries to unravel her façade, he becomes deeper and deeper intertwined with his own family history.
