Fun Fact, the plural for Octopus is, properly, Octopodes! (Ock-top-uh-deez). “Properly”, being that octopus originally come from Greek origin, rather than our tradition Latin origin for most English words! And the Greek plural form for Octopus would be Octopodes!
Additionally, from that, people are prone to call the plural of Octopus “Octopi”, insinuating and assuming a Latin suffix on the word since we are used to Latin root words! Though it’s fully incorrect.
“Octopuses” as a plural form is the most common and generally accepted version, as it just applies the English suffix to the word, as it’s the language being spoken (and it’s become more common than the original). Technically not correct, but not wrong either!
