Well, remember a bunch of people run to greet Al excitedly and say they were friends, but Al can't remember them?
Because Al's memories are Ed's memories?
Which clearly implies that Ed didn't actually know the kids? But they remembered Al, so Al played with them?
Basically Ed was the introverted kid who didn't go out and play while Al was obviously a popular and sociable kid?
