‘American Idol’ Celebrates Previously Cut Contestants
On Thursday’s American Idol, while auditioning hopefuls in Denver, the show looked back at former contestants who have become successful despite being cut from the show. Tori Kelly originally auditioned for American Idol in Denver in 2010, but was later dismissed. She became a pop sensation in 2015, garnering a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist and a Top 5 Billboard-chart album. The show looked back at her impressive audition. Oddly enough, Tori was eliminated from the top 16 along with Alex Lambert, Lilly Scott, Katelyn Epperly, and future YouTube and MTV star Todrick Hall.
The show also re-aired an audition by John Wayne Schulz. John was a Season 10 contestant but was eliminated from the competition in favor of Scotty McCreery, who eventually won. John returned to sing a Garth Brooks song for the judges and was easily given a ticket back to Hollywood.
American Idol airs Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8 pm on FOX.
