Song fic request: I've been listening to Goodbye Yellow Brick Road and I'd love to see a Sonic prompt but I can't think of anything except Sonic performing it. So take this as a freebie to do whatever you want with this

When are you gonna come down?
Sonic sits on the iconic X-Tornado, head very much straight forward. His eyes are locked onto something not found anywhere in the physical realm, but deep within his mind… Tails is piloting, but he doesn’t look back to see him. Instead, he has one arm up over a raised knee, letting the wind beat against him in his concentrated thinking…
What is he reflecting about?
When are you going to land?
The plane begins to descend, but just enough to fly over trees, now having the landscape change as they pass the Mystic Ruin Jungles to be over the ocean, with Angel Island closing in.
I should have stayed on the farm
Knuckles looks from his post of standing guard with his arms crossed in front of the Master Emerald, turning to the sound of the familiar biplane.
I should have listened to my old man
Knuckles watches the distant plane before turning to look at Amy sitting in a patch of flowers, also sincerely solemn, stroking a pretty violet flower.
You know you can't hold me forever
Sonic’s face smirks as he comes closer to the island, covering the view of the camera as the blue shifts to the petals of bluish violet in Amy’s hands.
I didn't sign up with you
She looks… sad. Her eyes arch in quiet acceptance of sorrow, and smells the flower before it’s taken in the wind of the passing X-Tornado.
I'm not a present for your friends to open
Shadow and Silver are standing respectfully on two ruined pillars, broken and fallen halfway, gazing at Knuckles and Amy before looking up to see Sonic and Tails pass overhead. The wind is following in the their wake… Shadow has his arms folded, standing on the broken-half of the still standing pillar, while Silver has one leg up on the fallen half, also turning his head to see.
This boy's too young to be singing
Shadow’s expression narrows as he sees Sonic’s true destination…
The scene opens up as the biplane now angles itself more outward and reveals the large fleet of Eggman’s robotic ships. At the helm of one, is Neo Metal Sonic.
So goodbye yellow brick road
The scene then fades to reveal Classic Metal Sonic, as the Modern fox and hedgehog are replaced by Classic Sonic and Tails, the biplane looking much older in design as well. They clash..!
Where the dogs of society howl
As Classic Sonic leaps off the biplane to land a hit to Classic Metal Sonic, dynamically showing a battle is to unfold, the scene once again smoothly transitions and cuts to the inside of the Detective Agency for Team Chaotix. It’s a typical scenario, where Vector is leaning too far back on his office chair with feet up on his desk, laughing before waving his large arms in fright at falling, and espio–sitting somewhat on the edge of the desk, jumps down to catch him as Charmy, flying overhead, catches the edge of the seat from the right side. All laugh again after sighing with sweat drops on the sides of their faces in relief.
You can't plant me in your penthouse
Cosmo seems to be praying in a flashback, looking up to have her face reflected in the converted Blue Typhoon’s spaceship window, smiling off to what some may assume is Tails somewhere else.
I'm going back to my plough
A fishing rod is casted into a lake, and wiping his brow, Big the Cat wiggles his ears in anticipation for a fish, while Froggy is shown to jump on his head to look as well to see if he got anything new from his expectant catch.
Back to the howling old owls
Eggman is in a dark room, he spins in his metallic chair and gleams a crooked grin, his glasses are fully white and his fingers are together, as though scheming yet again…
Hunting the horny back toad
The scene scrolls up to the sky, where the camera is now beneath the air-battle above, showing a below-perspective but moving closer, spinning at just the last second to reveal another transition. Maybe that previous shot was Eggman watching the battle unfold in the dark room..? Scheming to get Sonic The Hedgehog again..?
Oh, I've finally decided my future lies
Blaze is standing on top of a burning skyscraper…
Beyond the yellow brick road
The scene then slowly fades to reveal Silver where Blaze once stood, on a tree’s peak at the top of itself, but looking over a beautiful Angel Island landscape instead of a ablazed city. A brilliant horizon is displayed with a sun flare that the camera slowly moves closer to, the portrayed sunset clearly symbolizes hope and the renewal of a better future than what was.
The wind carries the camera yet again and Classic Sonic and Classic Metal Sonic are fighting, then it moves past more metal walls and they’re Modern Sonic and Neo Metal Sonic fighting on the bridge of the ship’s main control room, having plenty of space to duke it out while Tails flies the Biplane around the area and barrel rools to dodge other Egg pawns piloting eggman ships firing at him.
What do you think you'll do then?
Sonic pulls back, fists up, as behind him…
I bet they'll shoot down the plane
Tails is in a barrel dive, with one wing smoking as he falls.
It'll take you a couple of vodka and tonics
Sonic’s eyes turn and then his whole upper-torso to look over his shoulder. He’s alarmed.
To set you on your feet again
He scrambles to run and then jumps off the broken face of the Eggman mothership to reach out for the falling plane.
Maybe you'll get a replacement
Tails is fighting the g-force dive, getting his body pushed back forcibly mustn’t be a pleasant experience, but it’s clear from his tears spraying up to catch Sonic above that he also doesn’t feel he’s good enough for Sonic.
There's plenty like me to be found
He looks up, seeing Sonic freefalling with concern on his face, spreading himself out. Tails smiles through his tears and the brute velocity of the downward fall, having leveled out his spinning from before, he pulls up the steering but it breaks off, and he looks to the camera as though surprised that happened.
Mongrels who ain't got a penny
He tosses the broken pieces and wiggles himself out of the open cockpit, pushing himself up towards Sonic and spinning his tails, reaching for his best friend, who’s also trying to reach out to him, giving him a pleasant and relieved open smile.
Sniffing for tidbits like you
They interlink their fingers and pull their faces a little closer, then smile to one another as their beings fade once more to Classic Tails and Sonic laughing. Tears… are still spraying around the air, and they’re still falling… (Think Spirited Away moment.)
They spin in the air as the Plane fully explodes on the ground.
So goodbye yellow brick road
Tails pulls Sonic’s arms together, now back to Modern depictions of themselves, and flies him like old times to safety, the explosion cloud still behind them, both are fine.
Where the dogs of society howl
Neo Metal Sonic keeps his head up, peering down at their escape, and his eyes blare red as he lifts a claw up, menacingly…
You can't plant me in your penthouse
Sonic winks to him, as the scene speedily returns to Amy and Knuckles watching from Angel Island. She has her hands put together up by her mouth, looking worried, as Knuckles looks somewhat bent in a spread knee position, as though bracing to jump and glide off the island to come help… but he loosens up.
I'm going back to my plough
Silver and Shadow are walking away across Angel Island from the scene, it’s clear their story arcs have ended already, and there is no reason to step in and help out here… He’s got it. They simply… depart.
Back to the howling old owls
Team Chaotix are now turned towards the upward, retro T.V hanging from the top of their detective agency and hooting and hollering in cheers at watching the news, seeing the battle unfold, as the screen depicts Sonic and Tails flying heroically through the air, Sonic’s legs in front of himself.
Hunting the horny back toad
The Camera cuts immediately to Tails sweeping Sonic’s feet across the camera, which is below them, and the two fly back to the on-coming Egg pawn ships and the main battleship overhead still… slowly encroaching… probably after Angel Island, and who knows what next? Or where… the Square city? Station Square..?
Oh, I've finally decided my future lies
Sonic’s no longer in deep thought about the endless loop of his life of adventure, fighting the same foes and bad guys. He smirks, iconically, as he is flying back to fight.
Beyond the yellow brick road
Tails, unawares of this accepting moment that Sonic is having of his past, present, and future all lining up with his deepest beliefs and long-held statutes, swings him into the fray as he flies through the air, spreads himself out to aim while the Camera catches up behind him, and spin-dashes into a zig-zagging bounce of homing attacks through the enemy airforce…
The epic battle ceases into a still-freeze frame, like the iconic Sonic X or anime held cut-off or cliffhanger. The art is now extremely detailed but also somewhat sepia… a callback to the early days of children’s anime and animation… “To Be Continued…” Is in yellow… as then the ‘Shining Road’ theme begins to play while the ‘Dots’ for after the ‘Continued’ script weave as though a road… resembling Sonic’s old checkerboard pattern before everything fades…
