International Day of Sport for Development and Peace
Today is the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace.
For all its many challenges, sport retains the capacity to recall us to the better angels of our nature: fair play; equality of opportunity in the pursuit of excellence; humility in victory and grace in defeat.
During my time with the Canadian Equestrian Team, I saw sport draw bitter enemies together across borders, to join hands as peers in a shared passion.
For this reason, I support Peace and Sport's #WhiteCard campaign, to harness the power of sport to create a better world, modelled on the ideals of the level playing field.
