What do you think is the worst MBTI mistype on personality database and why do you think people chose the incorrect type? I would ask about socionics but a lot of ppl on pdb believe socionics and mbti are the same thing so there’d be too many mistypes to count😭-IEE anon

Oh mbti is a hard one, there’s so many garbage typings on PBD lol. I think the worst I’ve seen is probably Revel from “Platinum End” (it was an anime that came out a couple of seasons ago if you’re not familiar). People were typing him as an ENTP 1w2 and like… I’m not entirely certain what his type was but he is far closer to a Si dom than that hahah. Also any ISTJ 9 that is mistyped as an INFJ, as there are lots of them for reasons I don’t understand.

An honorable mention goes to the main character of a webtoon I read, whomst typed her main character, who is most likely an ISTP 6w5 sp/sx, an INFP. My assumption is this one is that how she expected the character to be changed over the process of generating the story.

What would you consider to be the least common enneagram besides fours?IEE anon:3

Probably 1s? Some statistics would say otherwise, however I think enough people conflate 3 and 6 traits with 1 that they become overtyped. In my mind, the typing distribution goes somewhat similar to this:

9 >=6 > 3 > 7 > 8 > 5 >=2 > 1 > 4

Give or take, 2 and 5 might be switched here. Assume there's a pretty big drop off after 7 of course. Distribution wise, I think it's definitely head > gut > heart (core) as well if that makes a difference.

Which Mbti function would you consider to be the most misunderstood in the typology community?-IEE anon :P

Sorry I forgot about this and got busy with work. Honestly, I'd probably argue Si. People still hyper-conflate Si with memory, recall, and the ability to take care of sensory tasks directly related to their lives in the mbti sense and that is really not the case for a lot of Si users tbh and are literally skills that you can develop or just be bad at outside of cognition. I think in general, due to them being really abstract and subjective, both Pi functions (Si and Ni) have poorly written definitions that are easily misinterpreted to be something that they are not.

Have you heard about the looking glass theory? In short it’s defined as the following:

“It is described as our reflection of how we think we appear to others.[2] Cooley takes into account three steps when using "the looking glass self". Step one is how one imagines one looks to other people. Step two is how one imagines the judgment of others based on how one thinks they view them. Step three is how one thinks of how the person views them based on their previous judgments.[3]According to Lisa McIntyre's The Practical Skeptic: Core Concepts in Sociology, the concept of the looking-glass self expresses the tendency for one to understand oneself through the perception which others may hold of them” wikipedia lol.

I was wondering if you think our perception of how other people view us affects how we determine our typology. Also do you think some people are more prone to use this type of logic than others due to either their outside circumstances/and or innate personality.

Actually this is the first time I've seen this theory named and that this can be very impactful in the typing process for some (cough hack, me in particular). In general, people receive a lot of feedback, both positive and negative, from others. Biologically, at least neurotypical folks are inclined to be naturally attuned to things such as body language, how our environment responds to us, etc for the sake of survival since we are a socially oriented species. Unless you're completely removed from others physically (or I guess even mentally, which does happen to some but this is a lot more rare of a quality than I think people expect it to be), part of your self conception is probably going to have attributes of that feedback tracked to it. Typology often necessitates asking others for opinions on our self typings or how they perceive us as well. Theories such as OPS, social approach theorem, etc, are particularly reliant on this, as their foundation lies on how we interact with other people. There are definitely some people are more prone to this than others. Attachment types in the enneagram (such as myself hahah...) will often reference other's opinions of them when describing their own self typings and will often list comparisons of their personality to others in their self description. These types are unconsciously adaptive and externally referencing, hence have a more mutable sense of self that gets semi-difficult to narrow down, hence they're ore inclined to use this logic, whether they notice they do or not. I think high Fe/Te (both in mbti and OPS) would probably be more inclined to this as well because these functions are somewhat oriented around external frames of reference. I could see Si/Se doing this a bit more as well just because they are looking for real and tangible information to base their conclusions off and other's opinions may verify what they believe about themselves.

In your opinion, do you think socionics is a complete system without flaws? If not what do you think needs to be changed about socionics for it to be a good measure of an individuals personality?- IEE anon UWU

Oh not remotely. I think compared to other system, socionics is more solid in its definitions and has modifiers that allow for versatile presentation of the types, but there’s always room for improvement.

The romantic modalities is entirely crap and I think to some degree, the definitions of the Quadras are either not general enough to apply to all the types within their bounds or are making some assumptions that are not solid. I’m general, people have criticized socionics for being “too structured” and I do think that could be part of the issue, it tends to be a bit assumptive and inflexible. This is pretty typical for theories of its kind. Apparently one of the writers (ie. Gluenko(?)) is doing active research on it now and doing typing interviews, which I think may assist in bringing more realism to the theory.

Which obscure t.v shows do you associate with the socio types and why?

Idk why but The Good Place seems so alpha/delta quadra but I can’t figure out which exact type I relate it to. Also does the Good Place count as an obscure t.v show lol?- IEE ANON UWÚ

I can see delta/alpha got The Good Place. I would think it sits in the IEE range tbh, though that’s just a guesstimate. I think both Fe and Fi are prominent in its scripting, a lot of the story is looking at potential, oscillating between discussing how people are comfortable thinking of morality and “goodness” and looking at where those flaws are (which I think is Ne/Si) and seems to cover both Fe and Fi in the characters represented and morality questioning. This is just a guesstimate though? I would not consider it obscure, it’s one of the more likable shows that I think a decent amount of people have at least heard of.

In terms of obscure shows…. Tbh I don’t know what obscure would count as to be fair, so I’ll just go with what I watch and keep it in the “I think these aren’t super popular?” range? I don’t watch a lot of shows except for like… anime and kids cartoons so bear with me lol.

The Magicians: Idk if you’ve watched it, here’s a link to like the trailer. In layman’s, it’s about this guy who’s obsessed with a fantasy book and finds out it’s actual lore from a fantasy world and goes to a school to learn magic. It’s kind of like if you took Narnia and made it a high school drama? I would say this show is very beta, perhaps EIE/IEI. The main character Quinton is probably an IEI (he could be EII too, his Se is so bad), in general I think there’s an excess of Se-Ni axis characters as a whole in there. There’s a big emphasis on hierarchy, social dynamics, but also world building and fantasy? Lots of discussion around consequence and development of character, the fantasy elements, and morality with experience and time.

Wearhouse 13: Trailer/summary for this. Essentially about two detectives that investigate alien/magic/cursed phenomenon. Vibes like a tame doctor who, I think they even did a crossover if I’m not mistaken? I would say delta for this one. A lot of investigation oriented tv shows lean heavily to the Si/Te axis, this is not really an exception? Relational drama is kept to a pleasant minimum (outside of the last episode). Idk what the specific type would be though, maybe EII?

Gillian’s Island: Is this obscure or just old? I saw this through my father. I won’t bother with the trailer, it’s just about like 4 people who get stuck on an island, it’s a comedy. ESE, fits the sitcom genre but is fairly cute.

Big Little Lies: Trailer/Summary, watched this with my mom. A drama. Essentially follows two (or more) women who’s children all go to the same school and who have more in common than they think (in a bad way). Actually pretty decent for a drama. Probably delta, but very Fi? EII to ESI range I think, kind of on the realistic end of things. It’s decent if you’re into dramas?

Can’t think of any more obscure ones off the top of my head. I may come back to this.

Do you think the MBTI would be more universally accepted if people were taught the jungian version instead of the sixteen personalities type? IEE anonUwU

It depends. I think it’s definitely better to start with a cognitive functions type approach l, the sources for jungian functions are sort of a mess? As messy as it is, I would think it would be better to introduce and teach something like objective personality and then move into the cognitive functions. People grump about mbti because of the lack of data and the fact that you can “switch” types with each test, but showing them something semi-repeatable like OP could make people more open to accepting the idea

What would you say are your potential socio types in order from least to most likely? IEE anon:P

Same with the assignments by the way, college drowns me a bit lol. I glitched and wrote the typed from most to least likely and am too lazy to change the order so this is my list lol:

LII -Socionics actually does a fairly decent job at describing me I think, there are few

Theories where I’ve so quickly narrowed down my type and felt confident of that conclusion.

ILE(-Ti) - There we’re periods where I lost my mind and did video typings and a couple of voice discussions, this was the near unanimous typing I received. My Fi is absolute garbage (which is why I love you Fi users so much tbh, you’re pulling my dead weight lol), my Se is about on par, and my Fe is surprisingly less awful than it comes across online. I wonder if the reason I get typed this is just because 936 is a bit less common for LII (which I assume would typically be head first or second in terms of ennea correlation)

SLI - This is how I typically come across online and honestly I considered this as a possibility. I do think I’m solidly on the Ne-Si axis socionics wise and there have been times when I have related to Fe polR descriptions. I am under the assumption I am Te ignoring but people have made decent arguments for me using Te and coming across as a delta type.

ILI - I related heavily to these descriptions when I first read them. Tbh part of that is more how I view myself than how I actually am I think.

EII - There’s always a possibility that I have a bias towards the thinking types due to how I conceive myself. This is the only other type that’s really been suggested for me ever, though I think that’s just because I’m depressed and people were trying to push me into typing as an mbti INFP for a bit.

IEE/SEI - I typed as both of these very briefly. I think if I’ve completely typed myself backwards these could be possible and honestly I typically really enjoy people of these types. I don’t think either is very fitting for me though.

Any beta type: Besides LSI, there is something about this quadra that I naturally grate with for some reason. Like I’ve been pretty friendly with some of these people after getting to know them at times but my first impression is usually a natural repulsion, so I assume I am not of this quadra

LxE - I’m pretty solidly neither of these types. Besides my brother (who is suspect is either a LSE or LSI, yeah I know big gap), I consistently think and prioritize things in a different way than these types. My LIE friend seems to agree with this stance on my typing.

ESE - I think I have an idea of what this type is like and it is not me.

ESI - Y’all cool but my Fi and Se are garbage, so these are my opposites right here I think.

SEE - Oh I love every SEE I’ve met but most of them are my complete opposite. There’s no chance.
