Warning: Some of the following headcanons are either very suggestive, or may seem too OOC for some people's tastes, but just remember, these headcanons are based on my interpretation and my attempt to flesh out one of many characters in IF that got very little screen time or limelight. Also, keep in mind I read a lot of romance novels, especially dark romance, so some of these headcanons are inspired by those books. That, and please remember that a lot of my posts for this movie are based off an adult take I've made up for IF.
- Sunny was first created in a city in Wyoming, his kid being born to a wealthy family of psychiatrists, in the year 1980
- Sunny was likely made as a way for his kid to have someone to talk to about their issues in life since they had no one else to talk to, and in more ways than one, Sunny became the therapist friend for his kid, this also being related to his kid looking up to his parents and their careers in the psychology field.
- Sunny of course was forgotten by his kid by the time they were in their teens. Sunny stuck around for a while to watch over them and make sure they were doing alright at least, until eventually coming to the conclusion they didn't need him anymore..... By then, Sunny left the home he shared with his kid for years, soon also leaving Wyoming and travelling the country for a while.
- During his travels, Sunny eventually ended up in California, where he met a community of other flower IFs, one of them being a rose named Rosie, who Sunny soon fell in love with..... Sunny and Rosie married some time after they met, and lived together happily for a few years
- Sunny doesn't like to talk about this, so all the details aren't known on what happened, but eventually a fire suddenly was set where all the Flower IFs lived, and it killed most of them..... Sunny was the only survivor, Rosie having died in his arms, which broke him immensely, and between losing his kid and now the woman he loved, Sunny practically shut down in that moment, thinking he'd never love anyone again like he loved Rosie.....
- Eventually, Sunny traveled to the East Coast, where he ended up in New York and eventually came across Memory Lane. By this time, Memory had been around for 2 decades with not as many IFs living there, so Sunny is considered one of the home's oldest occupants.
- He became the home's therapist shortly after settling in, having read many of his kid's and their parents psychology books over the years and as a result having an extensive knowledge of the field which he uses to help all the IFs who come to him for help.
- Sunny was still very shattered by his kid forgetting him and the loss of Rosie..... But one thing he had also perfected at that point was putting on an act to make people think he's one of the happiest, friendliest guys you could meet, but what most of the IFs don't know is the depression he's constantly fighting and masking through drinking concerning amounts of wine when he's alone in his room.
- Among the IFs, he's closest with Art Teacher and Cal, the both of them being his best friends, especially Art.
- When Star first arrives at Memory Lane and she and Art begin rebuilding their relationship, Sunny doesn't fully trust Star for a while due to her heavy drinking and love of partying.... He's worried Star will be a bad influence on Art and cause him to relapse in his old harmful habits, and as a result is always keeping an eye on the both of them from a distance when he can..... If he and Star have a session together, Sunny has been known to very subtly warn Star that she'd better not influence Art with her own harmful habits.
- This has caused an unspoken rivalry to spark between Star and Sunny, Star not being happy about being accused by Sunny of being a bad influence on her boyfriend, and Sunny merely being cautious, as he, Cal and many of the others were the ones who were there to witness Art when he was at his lowest due to his alcoholism, and were the ones to help Art through his very rough withdrawal and recovery.
- While Sunny is warm, comforting and friendly around most of the IFs, and takes on a more stern persona sometimes around Star, Coco is another story.......
- Coco had arrived at Memory Lane some time in the late 90s, almost a decade after Sunny showed up, almost immediately opening up her fashion shop in the home in the hopes of having something to do there, and as soon as Sunny laid eyes on her..... Well, what he felt wasn't the same kind of love he had for Rosie, nothing could ever match up to what he and Rosie had, but...... Well, it was clear to Sunny that he wanted.... No, he HAD to have Coco......
- It started off very subtle at first. Simple small talk at Coco's shop, in the halls, or even at the bar, the cafe, or the bingo hall, and Coco immediately was charmed by Sunny and his personality...... Admittedly, Coco began to admire Sunny some, not knowing what Sunny felt was much deeper.....
- Eventually, due to some sort of need for a deeper connection and the knowledge of many of the other IFs having nightly hookups now and then, Coco and Sunny both decided to take part in these hook ups now and then.... Be it in one of their bedrooms, or the back of Coco's shop, or Sunny's office, or even the library, or the pool room, it's anyone's guess how many places these hook ups between Sunny and Coco have taken place.
- Sunny eventually found out though that Coco was in an open relationship with Cosmo, and..... Well, let's just say Sunny wasn't exactly happy that the center of his affection was taken by someone else.......
- At this point, Sunny's attempts to win Coco iver got slightly more aggressive..... In the sense that sometimes when no one was around, in the hallways or his office, Sunny would sometimes corner Coco, pressing her against the wall or pulling her into his lap in his chair and trying to seduce her, whispering things in her ears that made Coco realize just what a beast Sunny truly is deep down..... and despite this, Coco actually likes this......
- "I see how well you and that little detective get along...... He's a gentleman, yes, but.... Can he give you what a woman like you really needs?.... Can he truly satisfy you?...... Can he give you a night as glorious as what we had on top of this desk that night?......." he whispers right into Coco's ear, as he pins her up against said desk and grasps the back of her head, Coco's hands holding herself up as they lay flat on the desk.
- An intense, yet tender lover who always puts Coco's needs above his own
- Eventually, after some thought, Coco sits Cosmo down for a talk, and admits to him that she's developing feelings for Sunny, and wants to pursue a closed relationship with him.... Cosmo is more than understanding about this despite the initial shock, but when he sees Sunny and Coco together at first, he can't help but give her a look like "If you hurt her, I will fucking murder you in your sleep".
- Sunny and Coco begin their relationship, eventually both of them sharing a room together, and Coco seeing more sides to Sunny that no one else sees...... both on an intimate level, but also the fact that Coco now knows about Sunny's reliance on wine, and Coco makes it her mission to help him with his drinking, wanting to know what has him hurting so badly that he feels the need to rely on this sort of coping mechanism, despite him also having helped Art Teacher with his drinking in the past.
- Overall, despite their issues, Sunny is very happy with Coco, and truly feels like she helps keep him sane..... He only hopes that this happiness can last and that he doesn't screw it up.
- Oh, also, one might think Sunny's whole body was just a series of roots and vines since he's a flower....... But when seen without his shirt, Sunny actually has a very handsome build to him....... This might come off as cursed to some people, but just imagine Sunny with muscled arms and a muscular build, at least as muscular as you can picture for him.
- Literally, just imagine a shirtless Sunny standing at a balcony and staring out at the city, smoking a cigarette, drinking his wine, while "Crazy In Love" by Sofia Karlberg plays in the background.
- Sunny and Coco's main songs together are "Envy" by Chris Grey, "Ready To Love" by ORGAVSM, and "Chemical Love" by Escape The Fate
