I love how awkward and unwieldy your centaur babies look. I like to think holding a centaur baby is an art form perfected by all ‘taurs and that if a human (or anyone else for that matter) were handed a centaur baby to hold they’d just be like “what the fuck. How do I... limbs??? So many limbs???” Trying to figure out how to comfortably hold them

Yeah I imagine it’s pretty tough out there for centaur parents, like combine a human child’s need to be cuddled and held with a body that is the LEAST able to be easily picked up is a tough conundrum. What do you do with those big ol’ spider limbs?!?? Even people who raise horses generally don’t mess with the legs if they have to pick them up. Just scoop the body and let everything dangle, but that’s hard to do when you’re weighted to one side by a chubby little uncoordinated baby torso wiggling around.

Anyone else trying to hold the baby would very quickly have a crying baby-foal on their hands. Thankfully centaur babies are able to walk much sooner than human babies or raising just one centaur baby would make the human back give out pretty quickly!!

Okay, I have to ask. I'm currently marathoning your Of A Linear Circle series again, and I absolutely love it to death, but... Why do your house elves have such huge lifespans? And if they do, then why did they allow themselves to be stolen? Did Br--- go in and obliviate every single elf in the castle? Otherwise, shouldn't they remember their previous culture if it was within their (and probably multiple generations) lifespan?

Kreacher is an excellent example of an answer to this question. He’s pretty much the oldest elf left in Britain, and well... hundreds and hundreds of years is a VERY LONG TIME.

Kreacher says it himself: he forgot. He forgot his family; he forgot what it was like in Hogwarts before people started taking an elf or three with them upon graduation. Utredus the Complete Prick could conceivably have assisted with that by Obliviating elves who *questioned his actions* but I doubt he was deliberately Obliviating elves in order to create their enslavement.

Even Salazar says, often, that he has probably forgotten more about branches/types of magic and historical events than he would prefer to dwell upon. If Nizar hadn’t been dealing with Obliviscaris Omnia, he probably wouldn’t remember everythine pristinely, either.

Human brains have a limited capacity for memory storage--or at least the way they currently learn/absorb/retain information, they do--and you can only fit so much before the brain starts just tossing things that are considered unnecessary. It’s documented that people with a photographic (eidic) memory often suffer headaches or migraines, possibly due to them trying to cram a mental hard drive so full that it no longer knows how to cope, but the buffer still works and the disk still spins, so it just keeps absorbing info and hopes it doesn’t explode.
