Pssssst. If poly pellets are too expensive you can use aquarium rocks. You probably wouldn’t want to wash the blanket quite as much, but they work in a pinch. They’re a loooooot cheaper.

which is a bit nonsense because you can't tag ten people successfully but if you see this and you are tagged at the bottom feel free to do it. Or don't. It's up to you. Or if you're not tagged you can still do it because BOOKS.

So I didn't include anything listed in my fandoms page (Sherlock Holmes, LOTR, etc etc) because I blog about those and I wanted to talk about things that I don't.

The Borrowers series by Mary Norton - I cannot overemphasize how important these books were to baby me. I loved them SO MUCH. 

A Series Of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket - it was the first series I remember actively following! When The Penultimate Peril came out I bought it with my own money. 

English As She Is Spoke by Pedro Carolino - Whenever I think of happy-stimming I think of when I ill'd this book and The End and they came in at the same time.

The Three Investigators: Mystery Of The Screaming Clock by Robert Arthur - Oh man these books were not that good but I loved Jupiter Jones a lot.

The Twenty-One Balloons by William Pene du Bois 

The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster 

The Language Construction Kit by Mark Rosenfelder -  really my introduction to linguistic terminology.

A Horse and His Boy by C.S. Lewis - All the Narnia books mean a lot to me but this one is special because I didn't like it at first but it later became one of my favorites. 

The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag and Other Stories by Robert Heinlein - my favorite Heinlein. Dude has a lot of problems but he also invented like..half of the common sci-fi tropes. Also, this has All You Zombies in it, and All You Zombies is probably my favorite short story ever.

A Wrinkle In Time by Madeleine L'Engle - had more impact on my worldview than I realize on a day-to-day basis. Need to read the other books in the series; they were a bit much for me at the time I looked them up.

Detergent Turkey - An Explanation

See, what had happened was, when I last bought turkey, I also bought detergent. The detergent, unbeknownst to me at the time, leaked in the bag where the turkey was sitting. This contaminated the turkey and made it all “Oxygen Fresh.” I’ve been sick, so my sense of smell hasn’t been that great, and I’ve eaten this turkey a couple of times thinking it just tasted weird. But today, I ate it again and realized how odd it smelled (but I was hungry so I ate it anyway…college). I got my roommate to smell it tonight, and it’s incredibly strong-smelling of detergent. Ergo, detergent turkey that I probably shouldn’t have eaten once, let alone thrice. Haven’t died yet, though!
