“Exercise gives you endorphins; Endorphins make you happy and happy people just don’t shoot their husbands” - Elle Woods
How is it already mid-September?! Honestly, since moving back to Melbourne, time has just flown by so fast! So fast, that I haven’t even had time to reflect on my progress with going to the gym and living a healthier life. I made a commitment to myself when I first moved, back in April, that I would leave some of my unhealthy habits behind in Canberra. Of course, there are days where I break this rule, and weeks that I have definitely not tried hard enough.. but, overall, I have consistently gone to the gym every week 4-5 days since the end of April, this year. Food is always a struggle, especially when I am living the fly-in-fly-out lifestyle for work. On the whole, I have definitely made the effort to eat healthy, however I feel like there is still a lot of work to do on this front. Alcohol, is a similar story. I have cut out beer and cider completely since May, so I feel a lot less bloated when drinking, and actually, overall feel a lot less shitty after going out (must be the beer!). However, I am still drinking every week in Sydney, and every weekend in Melbourne with Wine and spirits. It’s getting really bad, but this is something that I definitely need to work on.. and I know it..
Holistically, I am feeling better about myself though, which is good. There are areas that I’ve identified that needs more of my attention, but I can certainly feel that I am becoming a happier person, getting into a routine and loving it at the same time. I am not sure if it has to do with the change in “active” lifestyle that I am living now, but even work does not seem like “work” anymore. I feel so engaged at work, love the people that I work with, and have goals set that I am striving to achieve for.
There are just over 3 months left of this year. Let’s finish this strong!
Go for it
Life is honestly starting to turn around, now. Moving back to Melbourne is the single best thing that has ever happened to me since I first got accepted to Law school. There are many things in my life that still require a lot of work, and I am just glad that I can finally cross off “Getting out of Canberra” from the list. A new me is on its way, and there are some things that I know that I can do to stay on this current high on life. For starters, I need to eat more clean food, drink more water, and make myself go to the gym a lot more. It has always been a struggle for me to start making healthier habits, and I truly hope that a change in lifestyle is just the change that I needed to see this become a reality. Second, I need to take better care of myself and the skin that I am in. This means to moisturise every day, wake up with a glass of water, wash my face, and get more sleep. Third, quit the smokes, and breathe fresh air for once. I know it myself that this is literally killing me each day, and it is honestly making it harder and harder to breathe with each breath. If I had any regrets throughout law school, it would be picking up smoking and eventually associating it as some kind of stress reliever. Not only is it hard on my lungs, but it is hard on my wallet, and I just know that “future me” will thank me later for not continuing to smoke my life away. Finally, I need to find time to love more. To love the people that are in my life, my family, new acquaintances, my work, my hobbies, and travel. I am so thankful that my job allows me to be a true jetsetter and fly in and out for work every week. But, I need to be able to actually take some time off work and travel to places on my own for leisure, and not just to end up in another office during the day. I need to plan a holiday, spend some long weekends away, and be around people that inspire me to keep living my life. I want to live a life that is unafraid of achieving goals and crossing off bucket-list worthy experiences. More concerts, more festivals, more outdoor activities! This is an incredibly cliche post, but I truly believe everything that I have just written, and the fire within me, at least for now, is burning so bright to just go out and chase these dreams.
Finally i can relax without customers yelling in my ear!! #retaillife Merry Christmas everybody! 😀🎅🎅
