Another Doctor Visit, Another Scare
This is getting old now... I visit the doctor, and they tell me something new explaining my condition!
So I had this 3 week followup with Dr F and Dr N today. Incidentally its been a month since that MRI that started it all.
Anyways, apparently my CT scan of the chest has shown a non solid lump in my right upper lobe of lungs. That may potentially mean lung cancer and it may explain (in a round about way) the lesion. Apparently, the human body for all its sophistication can be easily tricked into attacking the brain when presented with a cancerous tumor in some other part of the body.
So, that's the bad news. I need to meet a Pulmanologist - that's the doctor who takes care of lung cancer and stuff. To be clear, the size of my nodule is very small - 0.7 cm. So its only 15% likely to be something malignant. So, that’s the good news :-)
Beyond that, nothing specific really came up in the recent tests. there are things here and there, but nothing that makes a diagnosis to jump out. The overall hypothesis is still that its a sort of autoimmune incident. My symptoms are better now, so that’s a promising sign that the steroid treatment helped to reduce the inflammation.
The doctors want to continue the same line to treatment and also put me on a Immunoglobin Therapy to push some good antibodies in my blood plasma along with all the bad ones that my body seems to be producing. That therapy will take 6 hours every-time I do it, and I will need that every week.
Also I need a full body PET Scan to rule out similar nodules in other part of the body. So there is one more test to take. Not too worried about that though - PET scan is way easier than MRIs.
More later.
