IGMC 2018 DEV DIARY - DAY 4
For today, I just have this screenshot to show off of a brutalism based tower, inspired by the wonderful works of @moshelinke !
Progress has been rather slow otherwise, but I definetly intend to finish the game! Definetly! Maybe? I think.
There’s another 11 days to go until the deadline. I should be able to pull something together. (Hopefully)
IGMC 2018 DEV DIARY - DAY 3
I was supposed to show this off later today, but I’m impatient like that. So far, I managed to get a small puzzle done (not pictured here) and did some visual tweaks to some things that didn’t look particularly great.
Hopefully, I’ll work on the game more tonight and maybe get a few more areas done.
Anyway here’s today’s fun fact about the game: It has absolutely no dialogue! I mainly did this because I want the game to be able to appeal to a wider audience who may not know english. Besides, I’ve been wanting to try my hands at silent storytelling for a while now. Then again, the story isn’t meant to be the game’s main highlight as much as the surreal visuals and unique gimmick. What’s the unique gimmick? Still not telling you.
IGMC 2018 DEV DIARY - DAY 2
It’s actually not day 2 at all, but I haven’t had the chance to even sit in front of my computer, so we’ll just pretend that it is.
So far, I’ve scrapped the Inception rip off for a concept I actually discovered by complete accident while working on something else. It’s a surreal adventure game, mostly a walking simulator, but with a fourth wall breaking twist. What’s that twist? Well, stick around, and maybe you’ll find out soon enough. Because I’m edgy and mysterious like that. Ho ho ho...
IGMC 2018 DEV DIARY - DAY 1
I figure that I should probably keep a diary of sorts for IGMC 2018 to encourage myself to focus more.
The event starts in less than half an hour. So far, I’ve got a concept that a pal is helping me write, and I’ve got an aesthetic in mind. Well, multiple, still gotta choose one. Damn the fact that there’s too many good tilesets!
Anyway, the rough idea is that I’m gonna try my hands at making something heavily inspired by Inception. The aim is to leave the player mind fucked, but in like, a good way.
Hopefully I’ll have something to show off by tomorrow!
