Tentacles moved easily over the rocks as Morgana emerged from the waves, eyes scanning the apparently empty shoreline before rising to the castle towering high above. It was as she remembered in those long seventeen years ago, though those memories had grown a bit hazy. How she would have loved to see the wall still standing, the one erected because of her and the threat she posed to the royal family. But like her influence and the fear of her impending vengeance, it had disappeared. No doubt shortly after she’d been frozen solid. But that was then. Now she was in a potentially beneficial position--no one knew she’d freed herself. No one would expect her to be lurking in the waters around Atlantica or along the shores of Denmark.
And so she waited, ducking behind the outcroppings to avoid detection from anyone who might raise a premature alarm until she caught sight of the dark-haired princess. The years had changed the awkward, gulible girl Morgana remembered, but there was no mistaking who she was. The seawitch took a deep breath before leaning out from behind the rock and waving a slender hand to attract the girl’s attention.
“Oh, Melody, dear. Yoohoo! Over here!”
