Hey! same anon here by the way. I never really thought of the use of the quotes like that before. I reread through some parts and now I think it's really funny how deku was kind of telling shouto about who he really is: telling shouto he smelled like wet dog when it rained, and calling his friend who's not around anymore a mangey mutt. i like how the author incorporated the canon part of momo into the story, like her feeling bad for failing when she got in on recommendation

(continue) and I also think the whole scene with deku eating a boar was just as gory for me reading it as it was for shouto having to see it. It was an interesting side to see of deku, and their convo was kinda philosophical in a way (about the boar dying to give rather than just dying).

With the boar scene - again, super strong ghibli vibes there, and also to be fair strong themes of just, animistic religions and the animistic sides of shinto buddhism? Which is always nice to see fic authors’ incorporate when they’re writing about anime/manga cos like japan, is a real place with real culture and history and stuff. I’m not saying the writer is directly using shinto buddhism, but I am saying there’s a strong indication that they’ve done their research and thought about what they say when and how they say it

Honestly the whole mythology around Deku as a forest god is super beautiful and so far I love it
