There was no one point in time he could pinpoint and say: that's it, that's when it happened. One day, he was still the intimidating senior, the main character of whispers in the hallways, words twisting him into a monster with no emotions whatsoever, and the next, he was being called Femme Fatale's dad – it wasn't the same lips forming those sentences, sure, but his juniors nonetheless, playfully but with a hint of truth this time around. How did that ever happen? In all honesty, Moonjin wasn't so sure himself. It hadn't been intended, but the moment he had started looking out for Hyerin, he had set an avalanche into motion that only prospered and grew into something much bigger than he had ever expected. If he were to be honest, he hadn't even expected that his giving a few pointers and reassuring words would lead to much of a bond in the first place, but alas, life never played out quite the way one expected it to. He wasn't complaining. (Yet.)
Jay was always pleasant company, a kindred spirit, in a way – someone who understood the concept of comfortable silence, at least, and he appreciated that immensely. A warm smile rested on his features as he greeted her at the company for the first time since Femme Fatale's debut, despite or perhaps because of how worn out she looked. “Hey,” he greeted, his tone of voice as calm as ever. There had probably been enough noise around her these days. Debut promotions were always the most overwhelming, back before one had the chance to get used to any of the buzz, the stress, the long hours, the work. Even though his lay almost four years in the past now, his recollections were still as vivid as ever.
“How are you holding up?”, he asked, tentatively – if she didn't want to answer, didn't want to talk about it, that would be fine with him too. It was, quite simply, his way of offering a sympathetic ear should she want or need one. “Would you like some coffee? A milkshake? Anything?” It would be his treat, of course; that was so obvious that he didn't even voice it. He was, after all, Femme Fatale's unofficial dad. However the hell that had happened.
