I think they didn't work because Jodi was the type of person Bette always tried so hard not to be. I think Jodi had Bette's same "me me me" attitude the only difference is Bette was trying to shy away from it while Jodi just embraced it.

I liked Bette and Jodi sometimes, I’m not gonna lie. And their break up was definitely horrible. But idk sometimes I just sat there thinking wtf is going on these people don’t belong together why are they trying so hard to make this work is it even worth it?!?!?
